Gilbert Arenas Avoids Jail, Average People Scratch Heads

The Washington Wizards’ guard Gilbert Arenas avoided jail time for bringing guns to the Verizon Center and threatening teammate Javaris Crittenton following a dispute over a card-game debt that did not involve guaranteed loans. According to the Washington Post, Arenas and his defense attorneys have maintained that it was merely “a prank gone wrong,” while the prosecution calls Gilbert Arenas’ “self-serving, ever-evolving” story a thin attempt to mask a pattern of bullying and “thuggish” intimidation. The D.C. Superior Court Judge Robert Morin originally sentenced “Agent Zero” to 18 months in jail; however, that part of the sentence was suspended. In Morin’s mind, all that Gilbert Arenas owes the justice system is $ 5,000 donation to a crime victim’s fund, 400 hours of community service, 30 days in a halfway house, and two years probation.

$ 16.2 million per season is earned by Arenas

This is why the $ 5,000 donation is too low. Payday loans would do the crime victims just as well. But what about the lack of jail time since he will remain with the NBA as well as with the Washington Wizards? Any normal person who brings a gun to work would get jail time and be fired, even if it were unloaded as Gilbert Arenas says his guns were. Saying it was a practical joke wouldn’t make any difference. Regardless of whether Gilbert Arenas is a joker who doesn’t know when to stop or a common gang banger with more money than sense, not serving at least some jail time is an affront to justice.

Might Judge Morin have asked for Wizards season tickets? This has been unclear

Morin says, according to the post, that he “weighed several factors in issuing his sentence.” First of all, the firearms in question were registered in Virginia. Unfortunately, this occurred in Washington D.C., which might very well have run the probation bell. Second, Gilbert Arenas has no documented history of violence, and it could not be proven that the guns were loaded. Guess it is time to cue Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to Be an American!”

Gilbert Arenas has faced gun charges before.

Back in 2003, as he was leaving the Golden State Warriors as a free agent, Gilbert Arenas was arrested outside San Francisco when police saw a gun on the floor of his car during a traffic stop. It was not registered in California, although it was registered in Arizona. After pleading no contest to illegal gun possession, “Agent Zero” served two years probation.

Phoebe Prince Tormentors Indicted For Role In Her Death

South Hadley, Massachusetts is the nice, comfortable middle-class suburb where Phoebe Prince was driven to commit suicide after incessant taunting, bullying and intimidation from a clique known as the “Mean Girls of South Hadley.” Nine teenagers in total have been indicted by Massachusetts District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel for a series of actions that are believed to have pushed Phoebe Prince to despondency and eventual suicide. It was reported that many students and at least one school faculty member of South Hadley High School saw what the Mean Girls of Hadley did to Phoebe Prince. The events “went unreported to school administrators until after Phoebe’s death,” according to Dscriber.

Prince was 15 years old

She had moved to a cozy Massachusetts town from Ireland. Prince had apparently no idea that there was anything like the Mean Girls of South Hadley’s bullying. The fact that Phoebe Prince was pretty started getting the attention of the clique but her dating life of dating the senior football player while she was a freshman was too much for them to ignore. She was always being “put in her place” by the clique while others saw and did nothing. The Mean Girls of South Hadley were able to have more freedom than the less popular bullies because of their popularity.

Some of the charges against the Mean Girls of South Hadley and accomplices.

Per Dscriber, this is what is known:

  • Sean Mulveyhill, 17 - statutory rape, violation of civil rights, criminal harassment, disturbance of a school assembly
  • Austin Renaud, 18 - statutory rape
  • Kayla Narey, 17 - violation of civil rights, criminal harassment, disturbance of a school assembly
  • Ashley Longe, 16 - violation of civil rights, as a youthful offender
  • Flannery Mullins, 16 - violation of civil rights as a youthful offender, stalking as a youthful offender
  • Sharon Chanon Velazquez, 16 - violation of civil rights as a youthful offender, stalking as a youthful offender
  • Three juveniles, all females from South Hadley, charged as juveniles (names not released)

As far as we know, no South Hadley School officials are being charged yet.

Bangkok Explosion | Bangkok Grenade Attacks Heighten Tension

Thursday evening, the capital of Thailand was rocked with several grenades; the Bangkok explosion is serving only to worsen tensions between anti-government red shirt protesters, government troops and pro-government “no color” protesters. The Bangkok explosion started when at least five M-79 grenades were shot into the business district of the heavily populated city. While anti-government groups are building makeshift forts in large areas of the city, the government of Thailand is seeking cash advance loans to help quell the protesters.

Origin unknown in Bangkok explosion

Under debate right now is the origin of the Bangkok explosion. Suthep Thaugsuban, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, told news reporters that the Bangkok grenade attacks originated with an M-79 grenade launcher, which has a 400-meter shooting range. According to him, “it was clear that it was shot from behind the King Rama VI Monument where the Red Shirts are rallying.” However, Red Shirt spokesman Sean Boonpracong and Red Shirt protest leader Jatuporn Prompan are denying that the Red Shirts had anything to do with the Bangkok explosion.

The Bangkok explosion casualty reports

The numbers of injuries and deaths from the Bangkok explosion are still coming in. The grenades were shot into many heavily populated areas, including train stations. The Bangkok explosions also bombed through a “no-color” pro-government rally. At least 3 were reported dead and another 75 wounded, according to current reports.

Bangkok explosions comes at a time of high tension

For the last six weeks, mostly poor and rural Red Shirt protesters have been marching on the Thai government, demanding immediate governmental elections. The government used payday loans from its own treasury less than two weeks ago to spend in troops to disperse Red Shirt protesters in Bangkok, but the outcome was devastating, leaving 25 dead and hundreds injured.

Many Red Shirt protesters are starting to take over sections of Bangkok, reinforcing them with sharpened bamboo sticks. Protesters have received warning from the government with “live weapons and tear gas” if they choose not to disperse. For the most part, Red Shirt protesters are claiming that the current government, the result of a 2006 coup, is illegitimate.

The Hope Of Embryo Stem Cells

July 27, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

From the many experimental studies conducted at present, embryo stem cell research is definitely one of the most controversial. The use of human embryos as the biological material necessary to the extraction of stem cells has caused a wave of protests and actions from pro-lifers who consider such procedures a form of homicide. The problem is that starting from a mere embryo stem cell formation, scientists are now capable of creating all sorts of therapies and cures to deal with diseases and injuries that have always been diagnosed as irrecoverable. There are other sources for stem cells besides embryos, such as adult tissues or regular somatic cells, but the possibilities they bring are limited.

Any embryo stem cell existent in a blastocyst (the fertilization product of an ovum by a sperm cell) has the infinite potential of transforming into any of the functional body cells that are specialized for a certain body task. All the complex body structures afterwards evolve from this primary cellular grouping that divides in an organized manner. The benefits and successes of science in this domain of research have an incredible value, but many people wonder about the right to life inherent to any result of conception. From this point of view any embryo stem cell research represents a violation of the sacred of the living.  Then, looking into the future, the are psychic readings and the Seattle HCG Diet.

If analyzed from a different angle, embryo stem cell research could bring cures and alleviation to the incredible pain specific to irrecoverable diseases. Scientists are also making efforts to come up with some substitutes for any embryo stem cell necessity by identifying other sources of stem cells. For example, the amniotic liquid could be a solution thanks to its richness in stem cells and the total inoffensiveness for the fetus. Then, another recent discovery has been the possibility for the reversed function of normal somatic cells that can be reprogrammed into becoming stem cells once again.  Finally, if zipping around in a convertible, check out the Saturn Sky windscreen windblocker wind deflector.

Last but not least, we ought to refer to the great success in embryo stem cell research that consists in the collection of stem cells from an embryo without harming it during the process. This achievement is relatively new but it brings a solution for the ethical concerns that made the foundation for so many objections. Nevertheless, there are lots of other things to be understood or put into practice by modern medicine, before embryo stem cell research may solve the problem of the chronic diseases affecting humanity.

Tonya Craft Verdict - Teacher Cleared Of Molestation Charges

The Tonya Craft trial — the Chickamauga battle that became national news — is over. The Tonya Craft verdict on Tuesday acquitted the former kindergarten teacher of all 22 counts of child molestation she was charged with. This wasn’t until after she got legal bills close to $ 500,000 and lost her job as Chickamauga Elementary School along with her home in Chickamauga, GA. Tonya Craft has unfortunately been separated from her children for 712 days as well.

’Witch Hunt’ is the Tonya Craft trial

Tonya Craft supporters are calling the trial as a “witch hunt,” and legal bloggers covering the Tonya Craft trial reported that the prosecutors and judge conspired for a Tonya Craft conviction. After her exoneration, Tonya Craft appeared on the “Today” show Wednesday morning and will be on Larry King Live Wednesday night.

On ‘Today’ is Tonya Craft

The Tonya Craft verdict spares her from a sentence of 400 he Tonya Craft verdict spares her from a sentence of 400 years in prison. These legal costs might leave her needing a cash loan. That’s just one of the reasons, she told NBC’s “Today” on Wednesday, that the Tonya Craft verdict wasn’t a victory. “There’s nobody that wins in this situation. My whole heart has been taken, and I got half of it back.” Craft said she was “scared to death” that the truth wouldn’t come out although she was still hopeful. She talked about how hard it was to see her daughter testify against her.

“That was the absolute hardest thing I’ve ever experienced, because my job as a mother is to protect her,” Craft said. “There obviously was no anger towards her. It absolutely broke my heart to see that my daughter had been pretty much indoctrinated to believe things that weren’t true.”

Tonya Craft and misconduct at the trial

Following the Tonya Craft verdict, Craft’s attorney, Demosthenes Lorandos, told The Associated Press that he and Craft’s other attorneys have contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. attorney’s office about what he called the “fraudulent” behavior of Judge Brian House and the Catoosa County district attorney’s office during the case.

Local media is a circus

The Tonya Craft trial commenced April 13. The proceedings have definitely been a local media circus. Local TV news programs branded the case with tag lines and logos. Breathless anchors popped up on the screen throughout the day with promises of “graphic testimony.” The “Tonya Craft Trial” on News Channel 9 and “Tonya Craft: Teacher on Trial” on “WCRB — News you can count on,” competed for ratings and website hits with constant updates on all the sordid details.

Conspiracy against Tonya Craft?

Many of the players in the Tonya Craft trial showed questionable behavior that suggested Judicial misconduct. The judge sitting on the case represented the defendant’s husband in their divorce according to Cato-at-liberty.org. Defense attorneys asked the judge to step down but he refused. Blogger William Anderson, who has been covering the trial, reports that with the trial pending, the prosecutor, Len Gregor, wrote status updates on Facebook that included many comments by witnesses. After Tonya Craft’s verdict was set, Anderson wrote to the defendant:

What was done to you was criminal: no other word will suffice. Indeed, if you want to know where the REAL conspiracy was centered, it was in that courtroom, as a judge and his two henchmen conspired time and again to deprive you of your civil rights to a fair trial. Let me be more specific. House (the judge), Arnt, and Gregor (the prosecutors) were not guilty of overzealousness or even bad judgment. What they did was much, much worse because they teamed up to keep much of the evidence that would have exonerated you out of the courtroom. They harassed your witnesses and then called your four expert witnesses, who are well-respected in their fields (to put it mildly), “whores” and liars.

Not Guilty on all 22 counts – Tonya Craft verdict

Tonya Craft was arrested in June 2008 and accused of molesting three girls in her home between August 2005 and May 2007. After a five-week trial that became a modern day Chickamauga battlefield for the media, a jury began debating her case Monday afternoon. Tuesday she was found not guilty of all 22 counts including, child molestation, aggravated child molestation, and sexual battery. Craft’s chief attorney, Dr. Demosthenes Lorandos, said on the “Today” show that his client had been receiving many different death threats, and he hurried her out of the courtroom after the Tonya Craft verdict.

Melissa Huckaby - Surprise Guilty Plea In Sandra Cantu Trial

Melissa Huckaby surprised everyone when she pleaded guilty to murder Monday in the Sandra Cantu case. The Sunday school teacher entered her plea in what was intended to be a procedural hearing in advance of the Melissa Huckaby trial scheduled for fall 2010. Huckaby, who is from Tracy California, is on trial for kidnapping and murdering an 8 year old Sandra Cantu. Under a plea agreement that was reached with the San Joaquin County District Attorney, Huckaby will be sentenced June 12th to a prison term of life without the possibility of parole.

Death Penalty escaped by Melissa Huckaby

In exchange for Melissa Huckaby pleading guilty to her murder in the Sandra Cantu case, prosecutors took the death penalty off the table completely and dropped all other charges against her including child endangerment and furnishing a harmful substance for allegedly drugging a 7-year-old girl and a man in the months before Sandra died. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a Melissa Huckaby trial could have resulted in the death penalty very easily had a jury convicted her of killing Sandra Cantu, whose body was found on April 10, 2009, in a suitcase in a Tracy, Calif., irrigation pond.

Credit Card Criminals Jailed In The UK

July 27, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Credit card fraud is an ongoing and extremely worrying problem in the UK and all over the World. It is estimated that millions of pounds are fraudulently obtained every year through credit card fraud, and that the problem is on the increase.

It’s nice then to hear that a four-man gang of fraudsters have been jailed this week for an ongoing campaign of fraud and theft across the country.

The leader of the gang, software engineering student Theogones De Montford was called ‘one of the most prolific fraudsters in the UK’ by the judge and jailed for four and a half years. The other members of his gang were sent down for three years apiece for their part in the frauds.

Operating in several different areas of the UK, including Sussex, Bristol, Cambridge, Leicester and Kent, the gang would place hidden devices in credit card readers that would then send the details back to a laptop via Bluetooth. It was heard that the gang would then collect the credit card details and sell them to other credit card fraudsters in the UK and overseas.

The gang of four showed no remorse or mercy for their crimes, even for stealing from those with poor credit credit cards , as well as the elderly and disabled.

Usually operating in and around petrol stations and garages, the criminals managed to collect the details of more than 35,000 people. Many of those people would have already been struggling with bad credit in a tough financial and social environment.

It’s nice to see this kind of predatory criminal behind bars, and it appears to be a major win for the police force, who claimed that they had seen ‘a significant reduction in the number of chip-and-pin frauds in the UK’.

If you find you’re genuinely concerned about being a victim of credit card fraud, there are some simple and easy steps you can take. Don’t ever use a cash machine or chip and pin machine if you see any unusual or suspicious looking devices; if you’re not sure, just walk away. You should also ensure you cover the keypad anywhere you need to input your pin. You would also be well advised to only use machines in a well lit, reputable area that’s preferably filmed 24 hours a day. If you still don’t feel comfortable, you can always call one of the several credit advice lines and ask them to talk you through your credit card security.

In Gwinnett County, Georgia, high school teacher of the year Keenon Aampay Hall has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a senior student. The 17-year old student alleges that Keenon Aampay Hall gave him a failing grade when he did not comply with her relationship requests. The teacher, Keenon Aampay Hall, has admitted to the relationship.

What Keenon Aampay Hall is accused of

The paperwork that Gwinnett County Schools offices have on Keenon Aampay Hall include written accusations of a 17-year old senior in her class. The student only informed school officials about the six-month long relationship after he got a failing grade in Hall’s class. Allegedly, the teacher had told the student that he should father a child with her - and when he refused, she failed him. There was also supposedly pornographic material found on Keenon Aampay Hall’s school-issued computer.

Teaching position resigned by Keenon Aampay Hall

Last fall, Keenon Aampay Hall was awarded the Gwinnett County “Teacher of the Year” award. Since accusations have arisen, Keenon Aampay Hall has resigned her position. In the paperwork, Keenon Aampay Hall admitted to having a consensual sexual relationship with the student. Allegedly, the teacher spent quick payday loans on the student, giving him a cell phone, cash, paying for hotel rooms and cabs, and more.

What punishment Keenon Aampay Hall may be facing

Several separate investigations have been launched in Gwinnett County. The Georgia Professional Standards Commission is going to be reviewing the complaint made against Keenon Aampay Hall next week. The Commission has the authority to revoke Hall’s teaching license. Police are also investigating possible charges against Hall, based on the new Georgia law that makes it illegal for teachers to have sex with students. Keenon Aampay Hall, should she be found guilty, will have to pay restitution and register as a sex offender.

New Hampshire Bus - Greyhound Bomb Scare In Portsmouth

Yesterday afternoon, a Greyhound driver on a New Hampshire bus parked, put on the flashers, and ran for the hills. Why? A Greyhound bus bomb scare was apparently on board. Police received a 911 call from a passenger on the New Hampshire bus reporting there was an “explosive device” on the bus. That’s almost enough to make anyone consider no fax loans to take the train instead. This Greyhound bus bomb scare occurred just days after the attempted bombing in New York City as well as the a major explosion at an Army facility.

The Portsmouth New Hampshire bus scare

The New Hampshire bus bomb scare was brought to the media’s attention after the unidentified passenger called 911. As opposed to a stated threat, police Captain Mike Schwartz said that the call was “based on someone’s observation.” Passengers remained on the New Hampshire bus for almost two hours after the 911 call was placed. Eventually 17 passengers left the bus, one at a time, with their hands over their head. Along with the driver, one passenger is still being held for questioning.

ATF and FBI heads to the New Hampshire bus bomb scare scene

Immediately after the New Hampshire bus bomb report was called in, state authorities responded. Within an hour, there were representatives of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on the scene. The state bomb disposal unit and local police officers on the scene also received help from the FBI. News helicopters were restricted from overhead flight, and nearby buildings were evacuated.

Authorities question one New Hampshire bus passenger

Though there were 18 passengers as well as the driver on the New Hampshire bus, only 17 passengers have disembarked. Officials have not revealed if this was an ongoing hostage situation, or if the remaining passenger is a suspect. They are only saying they are questioning the passenger at this time. On a route from Bangor, Maine, the New Hampshire Greyhound bus was headed towards Boston and New York City.

Reading About Bear Spray Vs Pepper Spray

It is that time of year when bears commence to emerge from hibernation. And boy oh boy are they hungry. Usually bears can hibernate as lengthy as 7 months, less in warmer climates. Usually October through the following March is hibernation inside the continental U.S. for most species of bears.

There are so a lot of pepper sprays offered within the marketplace that it may well seem hard to make out which a single is effective, as well as the most trustworthy source to purchase pepper sprays that match your requirement. You will find many locations where you can buy these self defense spray both on-line and offline. Whether or not you live in the rough locality or just want to be prepared for any situation that may well come your way, these sprays are great to have on hand. Give your self an additional layer of protection by taking the time to pick the incredibly best product for you.

Before and after hibernation bears get more aggressive in their search for food. Typically they are fairly peaceful critters until foods enters the picture.

Due to rising crime rates, there has been a rush to discover self-defense weapons. It is one with the oldest non lethal self defense items that have been used for years as the very best medium of self defense. The idea of Spray as a weapon of self defense picked steam from the 1990s. It was endorsed by the security services according to whom this spray was a safe crowd deterrent. This endorsement by this department encouraged the police to try police pepper spray for dispersing mischief creating crowds.

The greatest advice for any hiker or fisherman or any kind of outdoor enthusiast is to in no way go into the back country without having some bear pepper spray.

Avoid bears at all costs. When you see one do not commence running away like a lady right here in Colorado Springs did last fall. The bear chased her, she ran into an intersection and got hit by a car. Maybe she was lucky the bear didn’t get her.

Here are some suggestions on the way to use bear spray:

“Each camper or hunter must carry a can of bear spray when working or recreating in bear habitat. Spray need to be carried in the quick, accessible fashion for example inside a hip or chest holster. Do not test spray in or near camping area. Be sure to check the expiration date on your can of bear spray.

1. Remove safety clip.

For the police this spray is an effective, non lethal weapon with which they’re capable to control crowds, no matter how unruly they may be.

2. Aim slightly down and towards the approaching bear. If necessary, adjust for cross wind.
